Actually, the collision between 

mental health and art can be much more diverse.

 

'A Perch for the Thorn Birds' and 'Artlink Central',

nonprofit organisatioins in China and Scotland

that are deeply engaged 

in the applied field of「Mental Health X Art」

will share our experience at the launch event of

'Flyway' an Art and Mental Health Exhibition

 between China and Scotland.

Event Panelists


Kevin Harrison


Kevin is the director of Artlink Central as well as a trustee for Scottish Prison Arts Network and chair of Dementia Friendly Forth Valley, as part of a Dementia Services Development Centre (DSDC) programme. Kevin has a degree in theatre and film from Roehampton University and undertook postgraduate studies in Arts Management and Policy at Birkbeck University of London. Kevin has experience in managing various art projects exploring cultural diversity and disability.


Silvia Sinibaldi


Silvia is the event coordinator and visual arts curator of Artlink Central for the NHS Forth Valley area, and she has a diverse background in creative industries and cultural heritage. She studied History of Art at La Sapienza University in Rome, Italy, and later graduated in Heritage and Conservation from the University of Stirling. Her professional background includes freelance practice in film and theatre as a costume designer and co-producer, as well as experience in cultural heritage and tourism at organisations such as the National Trust for Scotland, Mount Stuart Trust, the National Museum of Scotland, and the University of Stirling. 


小卡Morty Chen


Morty is the director of A Perch for the Thorn Birds and BelongingSpace, gender and mental health friendly studio in Shanghai. She obtained her master's degree in social work from Nanjing University and has been working and conducting action research in the field of mental health for six years. Morty has continually curated mental health festivals in China for the past 5 years, utilising arts like photography and applied theatre and literature writing to explore topics on mental health and social expression, engagement as well as equality.

Their mission is to provide peer support and education for people with depression and their families, and they focus on community-based recovery and promote mental health awareness and depression prevention.

Founded in 2008,  Beijing LGBT Center is a comprehensive nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the living environment of diverse gender groups in China. They provide a series of public services such as gender-friendly counseling, social services, and hotline assistance across the country and promote gender-friendly awareness. They initiated the first transgender Fund with Zhengrong Charity.
